Toyota unveiled its battery EV (BEV) concept cars “bZ Sport Crossover Concept” and “bZ FlexSpace Concept” for the first time in the world at the “Shanghai Motor Show 2023” to be held in Shanghai on April 18, 2023.

About Toyota “bZ Sport Crossover Concept”
The bZ Sport Crossover Concept is a joint venture between Toyota, BYD TOYOTA EV TECHNOLOGY Company Ltd. (BTET), a joint venture between Toyota and BYD Corporation, FAW Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. (FAW Toyota), and Toyota Motor Corporation. It is a crossover-type BEV with active and unique styling, jointly developed by Automotive Research and Development Center (China) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as TMEC), and is scheduled to be produced and sold by FAW Toyota. Developed based on the concept of “Reboot”, which captures the desire to change your mood when you get into a car or when you travel by car. In addition to adopting active and iconic styling, we have pursued functions that can be used as a personal space for customers of the younger generation known as Generation Z. The entire car continues to evolve even after purchase, including intelligent functions such as driving assistance and automatic parking, and we are proceeding with development so that owners can enjoy the latest state of the car with all five senses.

About Toyota “bZ FlexSpace Concept”
The bZ FlexSpace Concept is a practical, family-oriented SUV jointly developed by Toyota, Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., Ltd. (GAC), GAC Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. (GAC Toyota), and TMEC. It is a type of BEV and is scheduled to be produced and sold by GAC Toyota. The concept is a “COZY HOME” that families can use safely, comfortably, and freely. In addition to achieving an overwhelmingly large space, ease of handling, high safety, and reliable cruising range, it is also equipped with intelligent functions. We are developing a car that can accompany families, friends, couples, etc. and help them enjoy their lives even more.

About Toyota’s new BEV “bZ series”
Toyota held a briefing session on its battery EV strategy. The new BEV (battery EV) “bZ” series was released on December 14, 2021. This time, Toyota and Lexus announced 16 battery EV models at once . The number of models will be 30 by 2030.
