About the new Harrier minor change

The first minor change to the fourth-generation Harrier changes the exterior design, front bumper, and headlight shape, giving the vehicle a completely new overall image. The latest safety system “Toyota Safety Sense” is adopted and Proactive Driving Assistant is adopted.

2025 Toyota Harrier

Harrier expected CG

The expected CG uses the “hammerhead” style used in the Crown series and Prius. The previous model underwent a full model change on November 13, 2013, and a minor change on June 8, 2017. Considering this three-and-a-half year cycle, it is natural to make major minor changes in the fifth year.

  • The first minor change will be in 2025!
  • Major changes to the exterior! (Adopting the “Hammerhead” style?)
  • The interior design is almost the same with new colors added.
  • Adopts the latest safety system “Toyota Safety Sense”

About the new Harrier minor change exterior

  • Front bumper design change
  • Rear turn signal design changed

The exterior design is expected to change, such as the shape of the front bumper and the position of the rear turn signals. However, we expect that the current basic design will continue to be adopted.

Change of rear turn signal position

The position of the rear turn signal has been one of the topics that has been attracting attention since its release. In fact, the current situation is that the “rear combination lamp” that lights up the rear taillight horizontally is located above, but the turn signal is placed below. Although the turn signals are installed in legally acceptable positions, there are concerns that the driver of the car behind them may miss them because they are located in a different position than the rear taillights. When I visited a Toyota dealer myself, the salesman in charge talked to me about this. Therefore, from a user’s perspective, this may be considered a minor change.

About the newly designed hammerhead

The “Hammerhead” design, which began with the new fifth-generation Prius and bZ4X, was inspired by the hammerhead shark. It looks exactly like a shark and is rapidly spreading to new Toyota models. After that, this design was adopted one after another, including the “Crown Sport” and “Crown Estate,” and it has become Toyota’s iconic design.

The newly designed “hammer head” will not be adopted for the Harrier.

This is a bit of a subjective opinion, but from my perspective as a current Harrier owner and someone who has seen cars like the Prius and Crown up close, I would like the current Harrier’s unique design to be maintained. I strongly believe that. In particular, the signature lamps, which are two L-shaped DRLs (daytime running lights), have a luxurious feel and are very cool. Furthermore, the grille design maintains the “Harrier” design inherited from the previous model, and I personally think that there is no need to intentionally adopt the “hammerhead” design due to minor changes.

Rather, I think it would be sufficient to add more decorations or change the bumper design to create a more sophisticated atmosphere.

Toyota’s new common design language concept

There is certainly the option of a manufacturer-unified design. Lexus, the company’s luxury division, is characterized by its “spindle grille” and “spindle body,” while manufacturers have standardized their designs to a certain extent, such as Mazda’s “kodo design” and BMW’s “kidney grille.” You must to do something before you go on. The “Hammerhead” design has become a common design language for Toyota as well. In addition, Toyota has actually adopted a design called “Keen Look” in several car models, and the previous generation “C-HR” and “Corolla series” as well as the current “Harrier” also use this “Keen Look.” I am. Therefore, it seems unlikely that a minor change would significantly change the “keen look” to “hammerhead”. Therefore, I personally think that the timing of the next full model change is the timing to adopt “Hammerhead”.

About the new Harrier minor change interior

  • Added new brown color to interior color
  • 12.3-inch full LCD digital meter with map display function

It is expected that there will be few changes to the interior design, but the most anticipated feature is the adoption of a new interior design. I myself was a user of the late-generation Harrier, and a new color, “Dark Saddle Turn,” was added in the latter half, and I fell in love with its appearance at first sight and purchased it.

In the current Harrier, all seat colors are black, but by adopting a brown color seat like the new color used in the Vellfire, Sunset Brown, a minor change has made it comparable to foreign cars. I think it will be reborn as a sophisticated interior.

Sunset Brown is popular for the new Vellfire. Toyota may add a brown interior color at the time of minor changes, and we think that possibility is high. It is also highly likely that the map display function in the 12.3-inch full-LCD digital meter, which is used in the current Crown Series, will be newly adopted.

  • 2.0L in-line 4-cylinder direct injection engine “DynamicForce Engine” unchanged

There should be no changes to the basic specifications due to minor changes. Both engines are still new and are excellent engines that are widely used in the current Alphard, Vellfire, and Crown series. Body size also remains the same. However, the biggest concern is pricing due to the impact of soaring prices.

When will the new Harrier undergo its first minor change?

The current Harrier has been on sale since June 17, 2020, and it was originally expected that it would be made in 2024, the fourth year, but the plan is to carry out minor changes around 2025 rather than within 2024. It has been.

Should I wait for the new Harrier minor change?

As for whether you should wait for a minor change to the Harrier, I think the conclusion is that you should wait. Prices are expected to rise, but at the same time, the latest equipment, interior, and exterior improvements will make many improvements over the current model, and the introduction of Toyota’s hybrid system will improve fuel efficiency, making it a great value. Since it is expected that this model will become more attractive, I think that you should refrain from purchasing it at this time.

A final word from the editorial department

The fourth generation is currently on sale, and it went on sale on April 13, 2020. A PHEV model was added for the first time in the improvement on October 4, 2022. In 2023, 75,211 units were sold, and it remains Toyota’s most popular SUV in Japan. Therefore, this minor change is attracting attention. It is thought that the most desirable form is one that maintains the current design path while further improving it. As a user myself, I would like to wait to see what kind of changes will be made.

About Toyota Harrier

Toyota has undergone a full model change of the new Harrier , which was announced on April 13, 2020 and released on June 17. This is the first full model change in about seven years (six and a half years), and the exterior design remains the same concept.

By adopting a newly developed platform called the TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) “TNGA-K platform”, it has a “lower center of gravity” and “1.78x increase in body rigidity”, making it a significant evolution from the previous model. The suspension uses a MacPherson strut type at the front and a double wishbone type at the rear. In my opinion, the 4th generation Harrier has evolved from the previous model’s fluffy ride to a firmer ride. A new era of driving has been realized.

  • Adopts TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) “TNGA-K platform”.
  • Adopts a sophisticated “traditional front grille”. The headlights have a sharper shape, with two L-shaped DRL (daytime running lights) signature lamps, emphasizing individuality and innovation.
  • “Rear combination lamp” that shines horizontally.
  • The next generation “Toyota Safety Sense” is standard on all models.
  • Adopts a new engine “In-line 4-cylinder 2.5L direct injection engine D-4S (Dynamic Force Engine)”. + Equipped with a “high-performance multi-stage THSⅡ” hybrid system.
  • Upper grades “Z” and above are equipped with the “12.3-inch wide touch screen T-Connect SD navigation system.”

You can tell it’s a Harrier the moment you see it, but it has a more sophisticated traditional front grille. The “Chuuhi” hawk emblem used on past Harriers has been abolished , and the new “Toyota emblem” has been adopted. The headlights have a sharper shape, with two L-shaped DRL (daytime running lights) signature lamps, emphasizing individuality and innovation. Adopts LED headlights (Adaptive High Beam System [AHS]).

Although the vehicle has a simple structure, the side view of the body dynamically changes its cross section, creating a rich expression and a strong sense of movement. The rear has an elegant coupe form, and the rear combination lamp & LED high-mount stop lamp (Z “Leather Package”, standard equipment on Z) shines in a thin, sharp, horizontal line like the Lexus “ UX ” and “ Cayenne Coupe”. Adopt this to give it a sense of presence. A total of 7 colors are available, mainly colors with reduced saturation. The body color is “Precious Black Pearl” and uses “Self-Restoring Coat”, a painting technology that automatically repairs scratches on the painted surface. , it is possible to obtain more interior space than the previous model. By adopting a newly developed platform that achieves high aerodynamic performance, it achieves a “lower center of gravity” and “1.78 times increase in body rigidity”, making it a significant evolution from the previous model. The suspension uses a MacPherson strut type at the front and a double wishbone type at the rear. Through thorough driving and repeated tuning, we have pursued a “ride taste” that combines solidity and suppleness. In order to improve the convergence of the vehicle’s behavior the moment it starts running or when driving at high speeds, we have adopted a “shock absorber” that ensures smooth stroke movement even at extremely low speeds. To improve quietness, many vibration-damping and sound-insulating materials are used in the engine room, under the floor, around the doors, front and rear liners, and in the passenger compartment, aiming for a “high quality, elegant, urban style” (MIYABI) ride. It was a taste. All models come standard with the second generation of “Next Generation Toyota Safety Sense.”

Grades include “Z”, “G”, and “S” for “gasoline vehicles” and “hybrid vehicles”.“Z” and “G” have a “Leather Package” with seats made of genuine leather. . The downsized turbo “2.0L turbo engine 8AR-FTS” will be discontinued.

The gasoline engine is equipped with a Dynamic Force Engine equipped with an in-line 4-cylinder 2.0L direct injection engine and Direct Shift-CVT, which achieves the same maximum thermal efficiency of over 40% as the new RAV4. The hybrid model uses the same in-line 4-cylinder 2.5L direct injection engine D-4S “Dynamic Force Engine” as the new “Camry” and the compact and lightweight hybrid system “High Performance Multi-Stage THS II” to improve fuel efficiency. fulfill. JC08 mode fuel efficiency: 21.4km/L to 24.0km/L.

It comes standard with “8.0-inch display audio ” and uses “Apple CarPlay” and “Android Auto.” A dedicated communication device DCM is installed as standard on all vehicles, and T-Connect service is provided free of charge for three years. The optional “12.3-inch wide touch screen T-Connect SD navigation system” is installed on the upper grades “Z” and above. The steering wheel and meters are equipped with an “Optitron twin-lens meter” and a “multi-information display (7-inch TFT color)” on “G” grades and above. It also features an electrostatic heater control panel that allows touch control of the air conditioner and audio. The interior comes in three synthetic leather colors: black, brown, and gray, and genuine leather in two colors, black and brown. This is Toyota’s first adoption of a “panoramic roof with electric shade” that uses dimming glass. (Z “Leather Package”, manufacturer option for Z)

“Electric parking brake & hold” is adopted around the shift knob of the new Harrier. The fact that it is placed in a position where you can press the “Hold” button at the same time as the “Engine Start Button” is very typical of Toyota.

The interior features the Chuuhi hawk logo that was used on past Harriers. The accelerator pedal uses an organ type. Panasonic’s “NanoE

Harrier equipment list

The new 4th generation Harrier will feature the next-generation Toyota Safety Sense, significantly adding functionality and improving safety. “Pre-crash safety” allows pedestrians and bicycles to be recognized at night, “Lane Departure Alert” increases road detection items, and “Lane Tracing Assist” allows drivers to drive in the center of the same lane when using radar cruise control. , assists the driver with steering operations, reducing the burden on the driver.

Road Sign Assist prevents you from forgetting to look at road signs by displaying them on the instrument panel (Speed Limit, Stop, No Entry, No Extrusion).

“Blind spot monitor (rear vehicle approach warning)”, which is currently a tributary, is not used in older models, but is included in the new model. Rear Cross Traffic Alert, which utilizes a similar sensor, can detect vehicles behind and reduce rear-end collisions. More than meets the eye, the third and fourth generations have made significant advances.

I think it’s a very easy-to-use piece of equipment.

Equipped with the latest preventive safety package “Toyota Safety Sense”

“Low speed acceleration suppression function”, “detection of oncoming vehicles and pedestrians when turning right at an intersection”, and “emergency steering avoidance support function” have been added. At low speeds, the low speed acceleration suppression function detects pedestrians, cyclists, and vehicles directly in front of the vehicle and suppresses acceleration. It can also detect oncoming vehicles when turning right at an intersection, as well as pedestrians crossing from the opposite direction when turning left or right. An emergency steering avoidance support function that assists steering in response to the driver’s avoidance steering during an emergency.

Curve speed control function Radar cruise control (with full vehicle speed tracking function), which controls acceleration and deceleration to maintain a constant distance to the vehicle in front within a set vehicle speed on expressways, etc. Added curve speed suppression function that decelerates in advance.

Driver abnormality response system If the driver remains inactive during Lane Tracing Assist [LTA] control, the system prompts the driver to take action with audible, visual, and slow deceleration warnings, and alerts the driver with hazards and horns to alert the driver of any abnormalities outside the vehicle. The vehicle decelerates and stops within the vehicle’s own lane while alerting the driver, helping to avoid accidents that cause injury or damage to the vehicle, and reduce accident damage.

Toyota New Harrier Partially Improved Price Grade

The biggest change in this partially improved model is the discontinuation of the “G “Leather Package” for gasoline and hybrid vehicles. Furthermore, when comparing the same grade, prices have increased by 108,000 to 138,000 yen, reflecting the effects of the weaker yen and improvements.

gasoline engine model

The gasoline version of the previous generation Harrier was priced at 2,990,000 yen to 4,430,000 yen, but the new model costs 3,128,000 yen to 4,538,000 yen, so there is a price difference. Strategically, the price of 2,990,000 yen, which felt cheap, became 3,128,000 yen, and it may feel like the hurdle has been raised.

About the new Harrier minor change

The first minor change of the fourth generation “Harrier” will change the exterior design, front bumper, and headlight shape to completely renew the overall image. The latest safety system “Toyota Safety Sense” will be adopted, and proactive driving assistant will be adopted.

2025 Toyota Harrier

Harrier predicted CG

The CG image shows the “hammerhead” style used in the Crown series and Prius. The previous model underwent a full model change on November 13, 2013, and a minor change on June 8, 2017. Considering this three-and-a-half year cycle, it is only natural that a major minor change would be made in the fifth year.

  • The first minor change will be in 2025!
  • Major changes to the exterior! (Adopting the “Hammerhead” style?)
  • The interior design remains almost the same, but new colors have been added.
  • Adopts the latest safety system “Toyota Safety Sense”

New Harrier minor change exterior

  • Changed the design of the front bumper
  • Changed the design of the rear turn signals

The exterior design is expected to change, with some changes to the shape of the front bumper and the position of the rear turn signals. However, the basic design is expected to continue with the current design.

Changing the position of the rear indicator

The position of the rear turn signals has been one of the hot topics since the car was first released. In fact, the rear taillights, which shine horizontally in a single line, are located at the top, but the turn signals are located at the bottom. Although the turn signals are installed in a position that is legally acceptable, there are concerns that the fact that they are in a different position from the rear taillights could be overlooked by drivers of cars behind. I myself was once told about this by a salesman when I visited a Toyota dealer. Therefore, from the user’s perspective, it may be thought that this point should be changed in a minor change.

About the new hammer head design

The “Hammerhead” design, which began with the fifth-generation new Prius and bZ4X, was inspired by the hammerhead shark. With a face that resembles a shark, it quickly spread to new Toyota models. Since then, this design has been adopted one after another, such as the Crown Sport and Crown Estate, and has become an iconic Toyota design.

The new Hammerhead design will not be used on the Harrier.

This is a slightly subjective opinion, but as a current Harrier owner and someone who has also seen the Prius and Crown up close, I strongly feel that the current Harrier’s unique design should be maintained. In particular, I think that the two L-shaped DRLs (daytime running lights), known as the “signature lamps,” have a high-class feel and look very cool. Furthermore, the grille design maintains the Harrier design that has been passed down from the previous model, and I personally believe that there is no need to go out of my way to adopt the Hammerhead in a minor change.

Instead, I think it would be enough to add more decoration or change the bumper design to create a more sophisticated look.

Toyota’s new common design language concept

There is certainly the option of unifying the design across the manufacturers. Lexus, the company’s luxury division, is characterized by its “spindle grille” and “spindle body”, and manufacturers do tend to standardize their designs to a certain extent, such as Mazda’s “heartbeat design” and BMW’s “kidney grille”. Toyota’s “Hammerhead” design is exactly that common design language. Toyota has also adopted a design called the “Keen Look” for several of its models, and the previous “C-HR” and “Corolla series”, as well as the current “Harrier”, also adopted this Keen Look. Therefore, it seems unlikely that the “Keen Look” will be changed drastically to the “Hammerhead” in a minor change. Therefore, I personally think that the timing of the next full model change is the time to adopt the “Hammerhead”.

About the new Harrier minor change interior

  • New brown interior colors added
  • 12.3-inch full LCD digital meter with map display function

The interior design is expected to have few changes, but the most anticipated thing is the adoption of a new interior design. I myself was a user of the previous Harrier late model, and I fell in love with the look of the new color “Dark Saddle Turn” at first sight and bought it.

In the current Harrier, all of the seats are black, but by adopting brown seats like the new “Sunset Brown” color adopted for the Vellfire following the minor change, I think the car will be transformed into a sophisticated interior that rivals those of foreign cars.

The new Vellfire’s “Sunset Brown” is popular. Toyota often adds brown interior colors at the time of minor changes, and we think this is highly likely. There is also a high possibility that the map display function in the 12.3-inch full LCD digital meter, which is currently used in the Crown series, will be newly adopted.

  • 2.5L inline 4-cylinder direct injection engine “DynamicForce Engine” + motor No changes
  • No changes to the 2.0L inline 4-cylinder direct injection engine “DynamicForce Engine”
  • It seems that we will still be affected by rising prices.

There should be no changes to the basic specifications due to the minor change. The two engines are still new and are excellent engines that are widely used in the current “Alphard”, “Vellfire” and “Crown series”. The body size will also remain the same. However, the most worrying thing is the price setting due to the rising prices.

About the new Toyota Harrier PHEV

  • Inline 4-cylinder 2.5L direct injection engine D-4S + motor (THS II) plug-in hybrid system No change

Toyota will be installing the newly developed plug-in hybrid system “THS II Plug-in” like the new ” RAV4 PHV ” (plug-in hybrid model), which adds a large-capacity lithium-ion battery (lithium-ion electric energy 8.8kWh) and a powerful motor to the “in-line 4-cylinder 2.5L direct injection engine D-4S + motor (THS II)”. The system output is 302 HP (225 kW / 306 PS), 83 HP (62 kW / 84 PS) more than the hybrid model. The EV-only cruising range is 93km/L in WLTC mode. The hybrid cruising range is 20.5km/L in WLTC mode. Acceleration performance is 0-100km/h in 6.0 seconds. The cruising range is 1,300km.

The Harrier PHEV can use the power stored in its large-capacity battery for more than just driving. In addition to using it inside the car with the outlet installed inside, if you insert the included vehicle power connector into a standard charging inlet, it becomes a 100V external power supply outlet. It supports up to 1500W in total.

The exterior features a special front grille. The special exterior color is gray metallic (1G3). In addition to the black paint throughout, the interior features a dark red piping ornament with a metallic mesh texture from the instrument panel to the door trim.

When will the new Harrier undergo its first minor change?

The current Harrier has been on sale since June 17, 2020, and it was initially expected that a minor change would be made in 2024, its fourth year, but the plan is now to make a minor change around 2025, rather than within 2024.

Should we wait for the new Harrier minor change?

As for whether we should wait for the Harrier’s minor change, the conclusion is that we should wait. Although the price is expected to rise, at the same time, the latest equipment, interior and exterior improvements will be made, so there will be many improvements over the current model, and furthermore, the introduction of Toyota’s hybrid system will improve fuel efficiency, making it a good deal and more attractive model, so the author thinks that we should hold off on purchasing at this point.

Finally, a word from the editorial team

The fourth generation is currently on sale, and was launched on April 13, 2020. The PHEV model was added for the first time with an improvement on October 4, 2022. With 75,211 units sold in 2023, it is still Toyota’s most popular domestic SUV. For this reason, attention is being paid to this minor change. It is considered best to maintain the current design line while further brushing it up. As a user, I am looking forward to seeing what changes will be made.

About Toyota Harrier

Toyota fully redesigned the new Harrier , announcing it on April 13, 2020, and releasing it on June 17. This is the first full model change in about seven years (six and a half years), and the exterior design has remained the same concept.

By adopting a newly developed platform called the TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) “TNGA-K platform,” the car has a lower center of gravity and 1.78 times more rigid body, making it a major evolution from the previous model. The suspension uses a MacPherson strut type in the front and a double wishbone type in the rear. From my perspective, the fourth-generation Harrier has evolved from the fluffy ride of the previous model to a firm ride. A new era of driving has been achieved.

  • Adopts TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) “TNGA-K platform.”
  • It adopts a sophisticated “traditional front grille”. The headlights are sharper in shape, with two L-shaped, DRL (Daytime Running Light) “signature lamps” to emphasize individuality and advanced technology.
  • The rear combination lamp shines in a horizontal line.
  • The next-generation “Toyota Safety Sense” comes as standard on all vehicles.
  • It is equipped with a new engine, the in-line 4-cylinder 2.5L direct injection engine D-4S (Dynamic Force Engine), and a high-performance multi-stage THS II hybrid system.
  • The high-end grade “Z” and above are equipped with a “12.3-inch wide touchscreen T-Connect SD navigation system.”

You can tell it’s a Harrier at first glance, but it has a more sophisticated, traditional front grille. The “Moroccan harrier” hawk emblem used on previous Harriers has been abolished and a new “Toyota emblem” has been adopted. The headlights are sharper in shape, with two L-shaped DRLs (daytime running lights) and “signature lamps” to emphasize individuality and advanced features. LED headlights (adaptive high beam system [AHS]) are adopted.

The side view, with its simple structure yet dynamically changing body cross-section, creates a rich expression and expresses a strong sense of movement. The elegant coupe form and the rear are equipped with a thin, sharp, horizontally shining “rear combination lamp & LED high-mounted stop lamp (Z “Leather Package”, standard equipment on Z)” like the Lexus ” UX and “Cayenne Coupe”, giving it a strong presence. A total of seven colors are available, mainly with colors with reduced saturation. The body color is “Precious Black Pearl” and uses a painting technology called “Self-Restoring Coat” that automatically repairs scratches on the painted surface. It is possible to obtain a larger interior space than the previous model. The newly developed platform achieves high aerodynamic performance, “lowering the center of gravity” and “body rigidity 1.78 times higher”, making it a significant evolution from the previous model. The suspension uses “MacPherson strut type” in the front and “double wishbone type” in the rear. Through thorough driving and tuning, we pursued a “ride feel” that combines a sense of solidity and flexibility. In order to improve the convergence of vehicle behavior at the moment of starting to drive and at high speeds, a “shock absorber” that ensures smooth stroke movement even at extremely low speeds is adopted. To improve quietness, a lot of vibration-damping and sound-proofing materials are used in the engine room, under the floor, around the doors, front and rear liners, and inside the vehicle, aiming for a ride quality that is “high-quality, elegant, and urban” (MIYABI). The second generation “Next Generation Toyota Safety Sense” is standard on all vehicles.

The grades of the gasoline and hybrid vehicles are Z, G and S. The Z and G models will have a Leather Package with genuine leather seats. The downsized turbo 2.0L 8AR-FTS will be discontinued.

The gasoline engine is equipped with the “Inline 4-cylinder 2.0L direct injection engine Dynamic Force Engine” + “Direct Shift-CVT” that achieves a maximum thermal efficiency of over 40%, the same as the new “RAV4”. The hybrid model adopts the inline 4-cylinder 2.5L direct injection engine D-4S “Dynamic Force Engine” similar to the new “Camry” and a compact and lightweight hybrid system “High-performance Multi-Stage THS II” to improve fuel efficiency. JC08 mode fuel efficiency: 21.4km/L to 24.0km/L.

The car comes standard with an 8.0-inch display audio system , and is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. All vehicles come standard with a dedicated communication device DCM, and the T-Connect service is provided free of charge for three years. As an option, and on the higher-end Z grade and above, the car comes with a 12.3-inch wide touchscreen T-Connect SD navigation system. The steering wheel and meter on the G grade and above feature an Optitron twin-eye meter and a multi-information display (7-inch TFT color). The car also features an electrostatic heater control panel that allows touch operation of the air conditioning and audio. The interior comes in three synthetic leather colors: black, brown, and gray, and two genuine leather colors: black and brown. Toyota is the first to adopt a panoramic roof with electric shade that uses light-adjusting glass. (Z “Leather Package” and manufacturer’s option on the Z)

The new Harrier employs an “electric parking brake & hold” system around the shift knob. The fact that the “hold” button is positioned so that it can be pressed at the same time as the “engine start button” is a typical Toyota design.

The interior features the “Morocco Hawk” hawk logo that has been used on previous Harrier models. The accelerator pedal is an organ type. Panasonic’s “Nanoe X” is standard equipment, which removes pollen, allergens, odors, mold, bacteria, viruses, PM2.5, etc.

Harrier Equipment List

The fourth-generation new Harrier will adopt the next-generation Toyota Safety Sense, which will add significant functionality and improve safety. Pre-crash safety can recognize pedestrians and bicycles at night, lane departure alert will increase the number of road detection items, and lane tracing assist will assist the driver in steering to keep the vehicle in the center of the same lane when using radar cruise control, reducing the burden on the driver.

Road Sign Assist prevents you from forgetting to look at road signs (‘speed limit’, ‘stop’, ‘no entry’, ‘no going outside’) by displaying them on the instrument panel.

The current “Blind Spot Monitor (Rear Vehicle Approach Warning)” is not used in the old model, but it will be used in the new model. The “Rear Cross Traffic Alert” using a similar sensor can detect vehicles behind and reduce rear-end collisions. More than appearance, the third and fourth generations have made significant improvements.

About the Harrier partial improvement 2022 model

  • A new “PHEV model” will be added.
  • It is equipped with the latest enhanced preventive safety package, “Toyota Safety Sense,” which includes features such as “low-speed acceleration suppression function,” “detection of oncoming vehicles and pedestrians when turning right at intersections,” and “emergency steering avoidance support function.”
  • It uses a 12.3-inch TFT display full LCD digital meter .
  • The navigation system has been changed to “Connected Navi.”
  • HDMI and in-car Wi-Fi are available as options. The USB port has been changed from Type A to Type C.

Toyota will make partial improvements (annual improvements) to the Harrier and announce them on September 26, 2022, with the gasoline and hybrid models to be released on October 4, 2022. The newly added plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV) will be released on October 31, 2022.

The improvements are as follows: The Z and Z “Leather Package” grades are now equipped with a panoramic view monitor as standard. New interior colors will be added to the lineup. The latest preventive safety package, Toyota Safety Sense, has been added with advanced functions and improved functionality, and features include low-speed acceleration suppression, detection of oncoming vehicles and pedestrians when turning right at intersections, and emergency steering avoidance support. The driver abnormality response system has been adopted, and a curve speed suppression function has been added to the radar cruise control. This time, a new PHV model will be added. The higher grade will adopt a 12.3-inch TFT display (full LCD digital meter) instead of a 7.0-inch TFT color multi-information display + Optitron meter. The navigation system has been changed to a “connected navigation system.” An HDMI terminal and in-car Wi-Fi are available as options. The USB terminal has been changed from Type A to Type C. A panoramic view monitor with underfloor transparent display function has been adopted. I think that all of these are very easy-to-use features.

Equipped with the latest preventive safety package “Toyota Safety Sense”

Added the following features: “Low-speed acceleration suppression function,” “Detection of oncoming vehicles and pedestrians when turning right at an intersection,” and “Emergency steering avoidance support function.” The low-speed acceleration suppression function detects pedestrians, cyclists, and vehicles directly in front of the vehicle at low speeds and suppresses acceleration. It can also detect oncoming vehicles when turning right at an intersection, as well as pedestrians crossing from the opposite direction when turning right or left. The emergency steering avoidance support function assists steering when the driver makes an evasive maneuver in an emergency.

Curve speed suppression function: The “radar cruise control (with full-speed following function)” controls acceleration and deceleration to keep the distance to the vehicle ahead constant within a set vehicle speed on expressways, etc., and now has a curve speed suppression function that decelerates in advance according to the size of the curve.

If the driver continues to make no operations while the Lane Tracing Assist (LTA) system is in control, the system will urge the driver to take action by warning them with sounds, visuals and gradual deceleration, and will also alert people outside the vehicle with hazard lights and a horn while decelerating and stopping within the vehicle’s lane, helping to avoid accidents involving either driver or vehicle injury and to reduce the damage caused by such accidents.

Toyota new Harrier partial improvement price grade

The biggest change in this partial improvement model is the discontinuation of the “G “Leather Package”” for gasoline and hybrid vehicles. Furthermore, compared to the same level of grade, the price has increased by 108,000 to 138,000 yen, due to the weak yen and improvements.

Gasoline engine model

The previous Harrier gasoline model was priced at 2,990,000 to 4,430,000 yen, but the new model is priced at 3,128,000 to 4,538,000 yen, which is a price difference. The strategic bargain of 2,990,000 yen has been increased to 3,128,000 yen, which may give the impression that the hurdle has been raised.

About the new Harrier minor change 2025 model

The first minor change to the new Harrier changes the exterior design, front bumper, and headlight shape, giving the vehicle a new overall image. The latest safety system “Toyota Safety Sense” is adopted and Proactive Driving Assistant is adopted.

The previous model underwent a full model change on November 13, 2013 , and a minor change on June 8, 2017 . Considering this three-and-a-half year cycle, it is natural to make major minor changes in the fifth year.

  • Exterior design changes
  • The interior design is almost the same with new colors added.
  • Adopts the latest safety system “Toyota Safety Sense”

About the new Harrier minor change 2025 model exterior

  • Front bumper design change
  • Rear turn signal design changed

The exterior design is expected to change, such as the shape of the front bumper and the position of the rear turn signals. However, we expect that the current basic design will continue to be adopted. The hybrid emblem will be changed to a new design.

Change of rear turn signal position

The position of the rear turn signal has been one of the topics that has been attracting attention since its release. In fact, the current situation is that the “rear combination lamp” that lights up the rear taillight horizontally is on top, but the turn signal is placed below. Although the turn signals are installed in legally acceptable locations, there are concerns that drivers of cars behind may miss them because they are located in a different position than the rear taillights. I myself have been told this by the salesman when I visited a Toyota dealership. Therefore, from a user’s point of view, it is said that this point will be changed with a minor change.

The rumored new design “Hammerhead” will not be adopted for the Harrier.

Therefore, it is unlikely that a major change from “Keen Look” to “Hammerhead” will be made through minor changes. Therefore, we will adopt a “hammer head” at the next full model change.

As the current owner of a Harrier, I have seen cars such as the Prius and Crown up close, and I can tell you that the signature lamps, which are two L-shaped DRLs (daytime running lights), are It has a luxurious feel and feels very cool. Furthermore, the grille design maintains the “Harrier” design inherited from the previous model, so I don’t think it is necessary to intentionally adopt the “hammer head” design with minor changes.

Rather, to create a more sophisticated atmosphere, it is sufficient to add more decorations or change the bumper design.

About Toyota new Harrier minor change 2025 model interior

  • Added new brown color to interior color
  • 12.3-inch full LCD digital meter with map display function

It is expected that there will be few changes to the interior, but the most anticipated feature is the adoption of a new interior design.

It will be reborn as a sophisticated interior.

“Sunset Brown” is popular for the new “Vellfire”. Toyota may add a brown interior color at the time of minor changes, and we think that possibility is high. In addition, the map display function in the 12.3-inch full LCD digital meter, which is used in the current Crown Series, will be newly adopted.

When will Toyota’s new Harrier make its first minor change?

The current Harrier has been on sale since June 17, 2020, and it was originally expected that it would be released in 2024, its fourth year, but the plan is that it will be released around March 2025 rather than within 2024. It has been.

Should we wait for a minor change to the Harrier?

As for whether you should wait until the minor change in March 2025, I think the conclusion is that you should wait. Prices are expected to rise, but at the same time, the latest equipment, interior, and exterior improvements are expected to make the model even better and more attractive than the current model, so you should refrain from purchasing it at this point. I think so.

About Toyota Harrier

Toyota has undergone a full model change of the new Harrier , which was announced on April 13, 2020 and released on June 17. This is the first full model change in about seven years (six and a half years), and the exterior design remains the same concept.

  • Adopts TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) “TNGA-K platform”.
  • Adopts a sophisticated “traditional front grille”. The headlights have a sharper shape and feature two L-shaped DRL (daytime running light) signature lamps, emphasizing individuality and innovation.
  • “Rear combination lamp” that shines horizontally.
  • The next generation “Toyota Safety Sense” is standard on all models.
  • Adopts a new engine “Inline 4-cylinder 2.5L direct injection engine D-4S (Dynamic Force Engine)”. + Equipped with a “High Performance Multi-Stage THSⅡ” hybrid system.
  • Upper grades “Z” and higher are equipped with the “12.3-inch wide touch screen T-Connect SD navigation system.”

You can tell it’s a Harrier the moment you see it, but it has a more sophisticated traditional front grille. The “Chuuhi” hawk emblem used on past Harriers has been abolished , and the “Toyota emblem” has been adopted. The headlights have a sharper shape and feature two L-shaped DRL (daytime running light) signature lamps, emphasizing individuality and innovation. Adopts LED headlights (Adaptive High Beam System [AHS]).

Although the vehicle has a simple structure, the side view of the body dynamically changes its cross section, creating a rich expression and a strong sense of movement. The rear has an elegant coupe form, and the rear combination lamp & LED high-mount stop lamp (Z “Leather Package”, standard equipment on Z) shines in a thin, sharp, horizontal line like the Lexus “ UX ” and “ Cayenne Coupe.” Adopt this to give it a sense of presence. A total of 7 colors are available, mainly colors with reduced saturation. The body color is “Precious Black Pearl” and uses “Self-Restoring Coat”, a painting technology that automatically repairs scratches on the painted surface . , it is possible to obtain more interior space than the previous model. By adopting a newly developed platform that achieves high aerodynamic performance, it achieves a “lower center of gravity” and “1.78 times increase in body rigidity”, making it a significant evolution from the previous model. The suspension uses a MacPherson strut type at the front and a double wishbone type at the rear . Through thorough driving and repeated tuning, we have pursued a “ride taste” that combines solidity and suppleness. In order to improve the convergence of the vehicle’s behavior the moment it starts running or when driving at high speeds, we have adopted a ” shock absorber ” that ensures smooth stroke movement even at extremely low speeds . To improve quietness, many vibration-damping and sound-insulating materials are used in the engine room, under the floor, around the doors, front and rear liners, and in the passenger compartment, aiming for a “high quality, elegant, urban style” (MIYABI) ride. It was a taste. The second generation of “Next Generation Toyota Safety Sense” is installed as standard on all models .

The gasoline engine is equipped with a “Dynamic Force Engine equipped with an inline 4-cylinder 2.0L direct injection engine” + “Direct Shift-CVT,” which achieves the same maximum thermal efficiency of 40% or more as the new “ RAV4 .” The hybrid model uses the same in-line 4-cylinder 2.5L direct injection D-4S “Dynamic Force Engine” as the new Camry , and the compact and lightweight hybrid system “High Performance Multi-Stage THS II” to improve fuel efficiency. JC08 mode fuel efficiency: 21.4km/L to 24.0km/L .

The steering wheel and meters are equipped with an “Optitron twin-lens meter” and a “multi-information display (7-inch TFT color)” on “G” grades and above .

The interior features the Chuuhi hawk logo that was used on past Harriers . The accelerator pedal uses an organ type. Panasonic’s “NanoE
