The GRMN Supra is a fully tuned model of the GR Supra that was trained together with professional drivers. As of 2023-2024, development is progressing and test runs have begun, and spy shots were also taken of a prototype test run at the Nurburgring in Germany. About Toyota new GRMN Supra

GRMN is a top-of-the-line series that is produced in limited quantities and is intended for circuit driving, and the “GRMN” sold in the past uses dry carbon for the body panels. The powertrain has also been tuned specifically for the GR, greatly enhancing its power performance. The body has been made even more rigid, and the high-performance suspension and brake systems have also been made exclusive to the GR. It seems likely that the base model will be Supra ‘s upper-grade RZ 3.0L in-line 6-cylinder twin-turbo engine 250kW (340ps)/5,000-6,500rpm 500Nm (51.0kgm)/1,600-4,500rpm combined with a 6-speed MT. It is possible to significantly increase engine output compared to the regular model. It will be interesting to see if it surpasses the maximum output of Nissan’s Fairlady Z NISMO, which has a maximum output of 309kW (420PS).

Toyota’s new Supra full model change A90 type

Toyota released the new “GR Supra” A90 model on May 17, 2019. Toyota and BMW announced the joint development of the new Supra and the new Z4. There are many common parts, such as the platform and engine.

The new BMW  Z4 will have an open-top (roadster) body style, while the new Supra will have a coupe body style. The platform and engine of the new Supra are basically handled by BMW, while the exterior and interior designs are handled by Toyota.

Toyota could have developed the car on its own, but the development costs of a sports car are very high. Furthermore, sales volume would not have been high. By co-developing the car with BMW, it was possible to reduce costs and keep the sales price down.

Compared to the Supra A80, the overall length is 140mm shorter, the overall width is 55mm wider, the overall height is 20mm higher, and the wheelbase is 80mm shorter. Despite the shorter overall length, the long nose and short deck design of the Supra A80 has been retained, resulting in a modern sports car. By shortening the overall length, achieving a 50:50 front/rear weight distribution, and increasing the overall width, stability has been improved and the body rigidity has been increased, allowing for a sportier ride.
