Suzuki new Jimny Sierra exterior
- Adopts a classical body design that emphasizes the corners
- Set two-tone color
The exterior has gone back to its roots from the keep concept, with a more angular body design. It also has round headlights like the new Hustler. The body color is available in two-tone white or black. It is an off-road model, and features a ladder frame that emphasizes strength and durability, a 3-link rigid suspension, and a part-time 4WD with a sub-transmission (low range). It also comes with a Drive Action 4×4 that allows you to comfortably switch from 2WD to 4WD (4H, 4WD high speed) while driving with a switch. The frame is a ladder frame, and the engine is mounted vertically in a FR layout. This model is also known as the “New Jimny Sierra JC Black Two-Tone Roof”. It is often called a “small version of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class” both overseas and in Japan.
Suzuki new Jimny Sierra interior
- The instrument panel has been completely redesigned to a modern style, with a fully automatic air conditioner and a multi-information display.
- The interior design has been revised to expand space and improve comfort.
The instrument panel has been completely redesigned to a modern style. The navigation system is now at the center, and many changes have been made, including a fully automatic air conditioner, a cube-shaped meter cluster, and a large multi-information display. The seats can also be arranged to be fully flat, which was not possible in the previous model.
The luggage space has a large capacity of 363 liters if you extend the rear seats, and can carry two 9.5-inch golf bags horizontally! It also has a luggage accessory socket, luggage box, and tool box.
Newly developed ladder frame
- Adopting a newly designed ladder frame, torsional rigidity is improved by approximately 1.5 times
- Electronically controlled brakes LSD traction control standard equipment on all vehicles
- 3-link reject axle suspension
To symbolize a full-fledged 4WD, a ladder frame structure was adopted. The newly developed ladder frame uses an X-member, and by equipping the front and rear cross members, we have succeeded in increasing the torsional rigidity by about 1.5 times compared to the previous model. In addition, the body mount rubber has been enlarged to reduce the vibration transmitted from the frame to the vehicle body.
Part-time 4WD
Part-time 4WD with sub-transmission (low range) has been adopted from the first generation to the new model. You can freely switch between 2WD and 4WD depending on the road conditions.
3-link reject axle suspension
The “3-link rigid axle suspension” that directly connects the left and right wheels provides excellent maneuverability and large ground clearance even on uneven roads. The minimum ground clearance is 210 mm, making it difficult for the bumper and underbody to come into contact with obstacles at the “approach angle,” “ramp breakover angle,” and “departure angle.” In addition, the vehicle is equipped with door mirrors with side under mirrors, heated door mirrors, and headlamp washers (JC model).
Safety equipement
Equipped with dual sensor brake support, it utilizes the strengths of a monocular camera and laser radar to avoid danger with various functions including an automatic braking function. The body uses a lightweight shock-absorbing TECT body. It also features a pretensioner mechanism, force limiter mechanism (seat belt), SRS airbag, 4-wheel ABS (anti-lock brake system), latch start system (MT vehicles only), etc.
Equipped with dual sensor brake support
Taking advantage of the strengths of the monocular camera and laser radar adopted in the new Swift and Wagon R , it will not only detect pedestrians, but also avoid and mitigate collisions by automatic braking. The new Jimny falls under the Sapo Car S <Wide> category.
1. Forward Collision Warning Function When driving at speeds between approximately 5km/h and 100km/h, the stereo camera detects vehicles and pedestrians ahead. If it determines there is a possibility of a collision, it will sound an alarm and display a warning on the meter.
2. Forward Collision Warning and Brake Function If the possibility of a collision increases, this function will sound an alarm and automatically apply light brakes to encourage the driver to avoid the collision.
3. Forward Collision Mitigation Brake Assist Function If the driver applies strong pressure on the brakes after determining that there is a high possibility of a collision, the brake assist system is activated to increase braking force.
4. Automatic Brake Function If it is determined that a collision is unavoidable, the automatic braking function applies strong brakes to avoid the collision or reduce the damage caused by the collision.
False start prevention functionContributes to avoiding collisions caused by pedal or shift operation errors. A stereo camera detects obstacles within about 4m ahead. When the vehicle is stopped or moving slowly at less than about 10km/h, if the driver depresses the accelerator pedal heavily despite there being an obstacle, the function automatically reduces engine output to prevent sudden starts and sudden acceleration.
Lane Departure Warning Function: When the vehicle is about to deviate from its lane, a buzzer sounds and an indicator light in the meter warns
the driver. When driving at speeds between 60km/h and 100km/h, the stereo camera recognizes the lane markings on the left and right. If the system determines that the vehicle is about to depart from its lane, a buzzer sounds and an indicator light in the meter alerts the driver.
Sway warning function: If the vehicle sway, a buzzer sounds and an indicator light in the meter sounds to warn the driver. If the stereo camera determines that the vehicle is swaying based on the vehicle’s swaying pattern within the lane while driving at speeds between approximately 60km/h and 100km/h, a buzzer sounds and an indicator light in the meter sounds to alert the driver.
Leading vehicle departure notification function Notifies the driver when the leading vehicle starts moving with a buzzer sound and a display on the meter.
If the leading vehicle starts moving and moves away from the vehicle, but the vehicle remains stopped even after the vehicle has moved away by more than 4m, the function notifies the driver that the leading vehicle has started moving with a buzzer sound and a display on the meter.
Reverse Brake Support: Adopted for the first time in a minicar. Four ultrasonic sensors built into the rear bumper activate the automatic brakes when they detect an obstacle behind the vehicle.
Camera package for omnidirectional monitor (manufacturer’s option for vehicles equipped with safety package and camera package for omnidirectional monitor) Cameras are installed in four locations on the front, rear, left and right of the car. When a compatible navigation system (accessory installed by the dealer) is installed, it becomes an “omnidirectional monitor” that displays an overhead view of the car on the monitor. Places that are difficult to see from the driver’s seat can be checked on the screen, which helps with parking in tight spaces.

Thoughts on the new Suzuki Jimny 5-door
For Suzuki, the Jimny is a mainstay in the Japanese market and a vehicle with strong sales. The Jimny, which Suzuki has evolved over the years, has become an even more attractive model with the addition of the Jimny 5-door to its lineup. It has long been known as a small Mercedes-Benz G-Class, but with the long-wheelbase 5-door, this element is even stronger and is expected to attract more support from people. Whether you’ve been driving a Jimny or are considering buying one, the Jimny 5-door is definitely worth considering. It looks like the Jimny 5-door will have a longer delivery wait than the Jimny.
