This time, we will look into the Toyota vehicles currently on sale as of 2024, starting with the model with the smallest turning radius (minimum turning radius). We hope you find this helpful when making a purchase. Particularly in Japan, there are many people who live in areas where they cannot choose a large car model because there are many narrow roads and it is difficult to turn around.

What is the minimum turning radius?
The minimum turning radius is the radius of the circle drawn by the outermost front wheel when turning with the steering wheel turned to the limit. The smaller the value of the minimum turning radius, the faster the car can turn. Minimum turning radius is measured at the center point of the tire width. Values also vary depending on wheelbase length and tire size. Just because a car’s body size is small doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a car that can turn quickly. The minimum turning radius is stipulated by the safety standards for road transport vehicles to be 12 m or less.
Toyota ranking of car models with tight turning radius
I have ranked them based on the manufacturer’s values. The car model with the best turning radius was the “Roomy.” Following that are “Rise,” “Yaris,” and “Aqua.” As expected, the large Hilux has the least turning radius with a minimum turning radius of 6.4m. It was followed by the Land Cruiser and Century.

summary
What do you think? I think there were some surprising car models. The minimum turning radius is not only determined by body size but also by tire size. Furthermore, in my opinion, as the height exceeds 5.5m, I get the impression that I can’t turn the steering wheel even if I turn it. If you are not confident in driving, even if you have the model you want, you should take a test drive and turn the steering wheel to see if you can drive it yourself before purchasing. I would appreciate it if you could refer to it when making a purchase.
