Toyota USA announced the 2025 model year of its new crossover SUV “Crown Signia (Japanese name: Crown Estate )” on November 14, 2023 (local time). Toyota says the Japanese version of the SUV will be available in both hybrid (HEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) versions, but in the United States it will only be hybrid (HEV). The self-charging hybrid system features a 2.5L four-cylinder gasoline engine paired with dual electric motors. The total maximum output is 243hp (181kW/246PS), which is transmitted to all four wheels via an eCVT (electronically controlled continuously variable transmission) with the help of a standard electronic on-demand AWD system.
