TOYOTA GAZOO Racing has made some improvements to the new “GR86” and will begin taking pre-orders from September 22, 2023, with the car being released from November 1, 2023. A limited edition of 200 units of the AE86’s 40th Anniversary Special Edition “RZ “40th Anniversary Limited” will be sold from around February 2024. A lottery will be accepted for business negotiation reservations for a limited period from September 25, 2023 to October 9, 2023, and business negotiations will begin from October 25, 2023. The special edition car to be released this time will be displayed at the TGR booth at “FUJI 86/BRZ STYLE 2023” to be held at Fuji Speedway (Shizuoka Prefecture) on September 24, 2023.

About Toyota’s new “GR86” partial improvements
The EyeSight for manual transmission vehicles adopted in the improved “GR86” model (Japanese specification vehicle) is based on the EyeSight for automatic transmission vehicles of the “SUBARU BRZ”, and is equipped with pre-collision braking, cruise control with follow-up function, and lane departure/sway control. Equipped with clearance sonar with warning function, preceding vehicle departure notification function, and rear sonar warning function. EyeSight’s high performance in collision avoidance, collision damage reduction, and driving load reduction is controlled according to the characteristics of manual transmission vehicles, achieving stable operation in a wide range of real-world situations, and providing a high level of driving pleasure and peace of mind. Compatible with both.
A hands-free switch is equipped as standard on the steering wheel, allowing you to make hands-free calls while driving. A blind spot monitor is an additional option on the SZ grade, and standard on the RZ grade. Improved driving stability and safety performance during cornering by optimizing VSC control.

The 40th anniversary special edition car “RZ “40th Anniversary Limited” is based on the RZ grade, and the exterior is limited to white or red exterior colors, with special decals reminiscent of the two-tone red x black and white x black of the AE86. The interior is specially equipped with many exclusive logos and decorations that give a sense of the history of the AE86.
