Until hybrids pay for themselves
This is a very difficult question to answer when considering fuel efficiency and price. When comparing both grades of the “Z” 2WD 7-seater, the gasoline model is 2,686,600 yen and the hybrid model is 3,036,600 yen, so the difference is 309,100 yen . Furthermore, the hybrid car is eligible for a tax reduction of about 22,500 yen under the eco-car tax reduction . The total difference between the gasoline car and the hybrid car is about 286,600 yen .
Here we will calculate the cost of gasoline, and examine how much you need to drive to make up for the gasoline cost of about 250,300 yen . In reality, we will calculate based on the actual fuel consumption listed above.
Fuel efficiency for gasoline vehicles (2WD) is 13.0km/L. Fuel efficiency for hybrid vehicles (2WD) is 23.0km/L.
When gasoline price is 170 yen per liter
Gasoline model 10,000km = 130,769 yen
Hybrid car 10,000km = 73,913 yen
The difference is 56,856 yen after 10,000 km, so the difference is 284,280 yen after 50,000 km. In other words, this still makes up for the difference of 286,600 yen in the price of the main unit .
Even if you think you’re likely to get rid of your new car after about 5 years or 100,000km, choosing a hybrid car will cost you an extra 284,280 yen. Just because it’s a hybrid doesn’t mean you can choose it lightly. Furthermore, in the case of the Sienta, there is no difference in the exterior design from a hybrid, so you can’t be proud of it. Considering that the cost of the car will be paid for by driving it 50,000km , and that hybrid cars are more likely to have value when you resell them (sell them used cars), we recommend a hybrid car. Furthermore, hybrid cars are undoubtedly advantageous in that they allow for stable driving when riding with 7 passengers, so we recommend them!

If you value comfort, we recommend a hybrid car!
So far I’ve mainly talked about price, but this time I’d like to touch on comfort as well.
The “Inline 3-cylinder 1.5L engine (M15A-FKS type) + Direct Shift-CVT” model is affordable, but you may not be satisfied with the comfort. I have driven the 4th generation RAV4 gasoline 2.0L model, and I felt that it was very slow to start. This model lacks torque for its weight, and although it has been improved with the Direct Shift-CVT, it will still feel slow.
On the other hand, the hybrid model with the “inline 3-cylinder 1.5L engine (M15A-FXE type) + motor (THS II)” is equipped with Toyota’s specialty hybrid system. Since the start is performed only by the motor, it has excellent torque and you can expect a smooth start. Furthermore, when using the “radar cruise control”, the compatibility between the electric control and the hybrid makes for a comfortable ride.
If you value comfort, we recommend a hybrid car.

What grade is recommended? “Hybrid Z”
The grade is a wide and difficult issue, but the designs of the “X”, “G”, and “Z” are very different. For those who are not too picky about things like steel wheels and meter LCD size, we recommend the base grades such as “X” and “G”.
Differences by exterior grade
When comparing the exteriors of the “G” and “Z”, the “Z” is the better choice when considering the appearance and convenient small features such as “chrome-plated front and grill molding,” “Bi-Beam LED headlamps, LED turn lamps, and LED clearance lamps,” “rear combination lamps,” and “15-inch aluminum wheels.”
Headlights vary depending on the grade.

On the left is the “Z” grade and on the right is the “G” and “X” grades.
Wheel designs vary depending on the grade.

The design of the rear combination lamps differs depending on the grade.

Standard equipment on Z grade
The interior comes standard with features such as a 7.0-inch TFT color multi-information display, a three-spoke steering wheel wrapped in genuine leather, a driver’s armrest, and rear seat sunshades, so we decided to go with the Z model.
Safety equipment: Differences by grade
I don’t want to be lacking in advanced technology or safety equipment, so I would like to choose the “Z” after all. (All grades have active cruise control (ACC) with full speed tracking, but unfortunately it cannot keep the car stopped. However, if you choose the only hybrid grade, the “Z”, you can keep the car stopped. ) If the difference is only 300,000 yen for a car that costs over 2.5 million yen, there is no problem in choosing the “Z” really.

The price difference between the “Hybrid Z” 7-seater 2WD at 3,036,600 yen and the “Hybrid G” 7-seater 2WD at 2,727,500 yen is 309,100 yen, so it depends on your preference, but in conclusion, the most recommended grade of the new Sienta is the “Z Hybrid car.”
summary
In terms of pricing, both the hybrid and gasoline models seem cheap considering their equipment and specifications. What ‘s even more surprising is that the price difference between the hybrid and gasoline models is in the 300,000 yen range. A while ago, the difference was about 1 million yen, but now the difference is not that great, so I feel we are in an age where you can choose either one. If you have even the slightest bit of money, I would recommend choosing the “hybrid” grade. At the moment, I would recommend the “Z” hybrid model as it is the most well-equipped grade . I hope this information will be helpful when making your purchase.
