The silhouette of the Land Cruiser EV was revealed during the introduction of the new Land Cruiser series
At the launch of the Land Cruiser 250 on August 2, 2023, Simon Humphreys, General Manager of Design, spoke about the true value of the Land Cruiser and the mission of “returning to the roots” from Chairman Akio Toyoda. He said that the model that will continue the “inheritance” of the Land Cruiser is the “70,” the flagship model that will be the “symbol” of the brand is the “300,” and the main “core model” is the “250.”
In addition to the two Land Cruiser 250s, images of two other vehicles that have yet to be released were also released at the launch event: the rumored short model, the Land Cruiser FJ , and the silhouette of a new electric vehicle concept model, the Land Cruiser Se.
In addition, the BEV (battery electric vehicle) concept model “LAND CRUISER Se” was exhibited at the Toyota booth at the JAPAN MOBILITY SHOW 2023, which was held mainly at Tokyo Big Sight from October 26 to November 5, 2023 (open to the public from October 28).

Toyota’s new “Land Cruiser EV” concept model “Land Cruiser Se”
Toyota plans to expand its Land Cruiser lineup, starting with the Land Cruiser Se, a concept model of the Land Cruiser EV. The new model is an electric three-row crossover focused on urban use. The seven-seater crossover features an angular, futuristic design. The front end is dominated by a fully enclosed grille, flanked by elongated headlights and small openings with the word “TOYOTA” on either side.
Moving to the rear, we see pronounced fenders, blacked-out pillars and highly stylized bodywork. It also has a distinctive roof and a rounded rear end with a slim light bar. The car is 5,150mm long and rides on a 3,050mm wheelbase, which is 36mm longer than Toyota’s large three-row Grand Highlander SUV sold in the US, and the wheelbase is also 102mm longer.
Toyota has eschewed the traditional body-on-frame or ladder-frame construction for the Land Cruiser Se, opting for a monocoque structure. This model is designed for urban areas, with a focus on “high-torque driving performance” and ease of use on the street. When driving on-road, it offers a comfortable interior space with the high level of quietness that only an electric vehicle can provide, and allows for easy handling. When driving off-road, it offers excellent handling thanks to the monocoque body and the ability to drive on rough roads with confidence.
