Toyota new model Sienta minor change expected to be released around 2025
There is a possibility that the Sienta will adopt equipment that is currently not adopted at the time of minor changes. In particular, the most requested features are likely to be an “electric parking brake,” “auto brake hold,” and “digital interior mirror.” There is also no doubt that it will be equipped with the latest Toyota Safety Sense . As a result, active cruise control (ACC) with all-vehicle speed tracking + stop hold will become standard in all grades.
- Electric parking brake with auto brake hold
- Adopts digital inner mirror
- Adopts the latest “Toyota Safety Sense”
Honda’s Freed , which will undergo a full model change in June 2024 , is attracting attention as a rival model of the same compact minivan. This model change will feature new electric parking brakes and auto brake hold. In a highly competitive market, adopting advanced features like these is essential to keeping up with competitors.

About the new Sienta
In the development of the new Sienta, we have kept the appeal of “easy-to-handle 5-number size”, “the latest safety and security equipment”, “low fuel consumption”, and “affordable price”, while further refining the “easy-to-use interior space” from the first generation. And so.
It has more interior space than the previous model. Achieving high aerodynamic performance and adopting a newly developed platform, it is “lighter”, “lower the center of gravity”, and “body rigidity has been increased by more than 30%”, making it a significant evolution from the previous model. The suspension features a MacPherson strut front suspension and a torsion beam coil spring rear suspension. The minimum turning radius is 5.0m, allowing for smooth maneuvering on narrow roads and parking lots.
There is no doubt that this model will evolve into a completely different car. The ride quality will change with more soundproofing materials and improved body composition. Although it is 5 number size, it has a spacious interior and the interior is more luxurious than the old model.
While maintaining the same 5-number size that emphasizes maneuverability in daily life and is easy to handle, the overall height has been increased by 20 mm compared to the previous model, with a lower floor clearance of 330 mm, and the height of the power sliding door opening has been increased to 1200 mm compared to the previous model + + The 60mm diameter makes it easier to get on and off. While maintaining a flat floor with no steps, it offers excellent ease of getting in and out of the rear seats.
The height of the back door opening has been increased by 15mm (compared to the previous model). The height of the luggage compartment has also been increased by 20 mm (compared to the previous model), allowing for smoother loading and unloading of luggage.
Adopts TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) and GA-B platform.
The new, downsized THSⅡ is used in the new generation ” Inline 3-cylinder 1.5L Direct Injection Dynamic Force Engine M15A “. Combined with ” Direct Shift-CVT “ with a starting gear .
The hybrid model also includes an E-Four (4WD) model . A newly developed 4WD-specific rear suspension uses a double wishbone type. Gasoline 4WD models will be discontinued.
It is equipped with advanced preventive safety technology, the second generation “Toyota Safety Sense.”
It comes standard with 8-inch OR 10.5-inch display audio and uses Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Equipped with DCM in-vehicle communication device as standard.
Equipped with an external power supply function (optional for hybrid vehicles) that can supply power for up to 5.5 days for a typical household.

New Sienta Full Model Change Price Grade
The biggest difference in this lineup is the addition of an E-Four (4WD) model to the hybrid vehicle lineup. Conversely, the 4WD model has been discontinued for the gasoline model, so if you purchase a 4WD, you will need to choose a hybrid vehicle. What I personally think is that the previous model has been replaced by a new model, that it has adopted the “TNGA platform” , and that the safety equipment has been changed from the collision avoidance support package “Toyota Safety Sense (C)” to the latest “Toyota Safety Sense”. That alone is a big difference. Furthermore, it uses a new generation “ in-line 3-cylinder 1.5L direct injection dynamic force engine ” and a new generation “hybrid system” , which makes it perfect for this price difference while offering significantly improved performance.

There was a 4WD model in the previous model, but the new gasoline model will not be included in the lineup, so there is not that much of a price difference.

History of Sienta
The first-generation Sienta was a compact minivan that followed the Nissan Cube Cubic that was sold at the time. Although the body size is small, it has three rows of seats and can accommodate seven people. Additionally, the rear seats have sliding doors on both sides. This model’s front is based on the NBC platform for the CP20 series fan cargo, which houses the second and third row seats, and the MC platform for the E120 Corolla Spacio is used for the rear, which carries the load. In other words, it combines different platforms at the front and rear.
The second generation was the first model released from 2003 to 2015, and has undergone a model change for the first time in 12 years. The second generation was developed as the “universal and cool Toyota’s smallest minivan,” and will be sold at Toyota stores, Toyopet stores, Toyota Corolla stores, and Netz stores nationwide. The rival model is Honda’s Freed.
Compared to the previous model, the new model’s overall length is 135mm longer, the wheelbase is 50mm longer, and the overall height is 5mm higher for 2WD models and 15mm higher for 4WD models. The overall width is 1,695mm, keeping it within the 5 number frame. To achieve a low, flat floor, the hybrid battery is mounted under the feet of the second-row seats, and the thin fuel tank is mounted under the second-row seats.
The entry height of the sliding door has been lowered by 55mm to 330mm on 2WD vehicles. The actual door opening width has also been expanded by 50mm to 665mm, improving ease of entry and exit. The powertrain uses a 1.5L hybrid system (THS-II with reduction mechanism), which combines a 1NZ-FXE inline 4-cylinder DOHC 1.5L engine with a new type 2LM motor. It is being The front and rear suspensions are the same as the previous model. The front is a MacPherson strut type, the rear is a torsion beam type on 2WD cars, and a double wishbone type on 4WD cars. Regarding safety performance, the collision avoidance support package “Toyota Safety Sense C” is available as a manufacturer option on all models.
Minor changes were made to the first generation about three years later, and about three years later to the second generation, and minor changes were made to each generation about every three years. Therefore, it is highly likely that this minor change will be made at the same time.

A word from the editorial department
All of Toyota’s cars, including the Sienta, are great and have a wealth of features, but personally, I find cars that offer Toyota’s latest technology at affordable prices more appealing. In particular, there is nothing to complain about in terms of safety equipment and the adoption of a new engine. However, if its rival Freed undergoes a full model change and many functional improvements are made, Freed’s competitiveness is likely to increase even further. Therefore, it seems important for Toyota to make minor changes and further strengthen its sales power. The future competition between these two cars will be of great interest.
