The Japan Mobility Show 2024 (JMS2024) is being held at Makuhari Messe for four days from October 15th to 18th, 2024. On display are the Hydrogen GR Corolla that is competing in the Super Taikyu series, the hydrogen fuel tank used in the Hydrogen Corolla, and the motor that operates at -253°C, which is the core technology of the Hydrogen Corolla. I went to see it for myself, so I’ll tell you about it.
Toyota unveils hydrogen technology!

Toyota Motor Corporation will be exhibiting hydrogen-related technologies at the Japan Mobility Show 2024.
- Hydrogen technology honed through motorsports! The hydrogen GR Corolla currently competing in the Super Taikyu series, the hydrogen fuel tank used in the hydrogen Corolla, and a motor that operates at -253°C are on display. You can experience Toyota’s high level of technological prowess.
- Bring hydrogen closer to you! The hydrogen cartridges exhibited at the Paris Olympics are on display. Hydrogen can be transported at ultra-high pressure of 70MPa, and the new Mirai can travel 24km on just 200g! We are promoting our efforts to realize a hydrogen society, including the use of hydrogen in gas ranges and fuel cells.
- Hydrogen can also be supplied using hydrogen “jerry cans”! With an eye on the spread of FCEVs, Toyota is envisioning an environment in which hydrogen can be supplied from vehicle to vehicle, similar to gasoline jerry cans.
- There will also be a demonstration of the hydrogen gas stove, which was jointly developed with Rinnai. You can actually see how it grills meat and vegetables.

There is also a power supply system that utilizes EV batteries!
The sweep energy storage system is a system that supplies power by connecting many large-capacity batteries installed in EVs. It is possible to connect batteries with different degrees of deterioration, enabling a stable power supply even if some of the batteries stop functioning.
